Wireless Internet Access is Here!

The Monson Free Library is pleased to announce free high-speed wireless Internet access is now available in all areas of the library. This service is now accessible to anyone with a laptop or other portable web-enabled device equipped with a wireless network interface card. For more information please read our wireless access policy. Besides added comfort and convenience for our patrons, this wireless option provides more Internet access within the Library without increasing costs for hardware, software and staff maintenance. Users of the wireless service have the advantage of using their own equipment and software preferred settings and security. You can come in, stop at the desk for the current password to access our network and jump online without waiting or time constraints. Be advised that there are some limitations to this service. The Library will not be offering printing services or configuration assistance. The Library cannot accept the liability of handling your equipment and will not be responsible for any loss of data or damage to personal equipment. For the second phase of this project, the Library will be purchasing laptop computers to furnish a computer lab. This lab will allow the Library to provide computer training on library resources and services as well as instruction on Microsoft products, surfing the web and email programs. This exciting new wireless service and the purchase of laptops was funded entirely through donations to our Annual Appeal, a $5,000 donation from Mrs. Karen Sprague and the generosity of Alternative Communications, Inc. of Monson for donating the wiring and labor necessary to complete this project.
